Urban Gardening Quick Links:
On June 22nd, 2019 YouTube sent an email saying: "As you may know, our Community Guidelines describe which content we allow – and don’t allow – on YouTube. Your video Landscape Fabric Pros & Cons Finding an Alternative thru Sheet Mulching for Weed Control was flagged to us for review. Upon review, we’ve determined that it may not be suitable for all viewers and it has been placed behind an age restriction."
Anyone who knows me and the content I create knows that nothing posted to my website OR my YouTube channel comes even remotely close to meeting age-restricted criteria. I knew for a fact that this was a false positive and immediately appealed it. Then on June 24th I received a response stating: "Thank you for submitting your video appeal to YouTube. After further review, we've determined that while your video does not violate our Community Guidelines, it may not be appropriate for a general audience. We have therefore age-restricted your video."
No explanation. No justification for this action what-so-ever. I know that this was wrongly done and it is highly unethical. But YouTube claims that you get one appeal and that this review is done by a "human." I hereby contest that assertion. If a human reviewed my video, then they were grossly incompetent at their job. And I call for the immediate termination of this "human's" employment.
This is the link to my video which was wrongly age-restricted:

I hereby assert that YouTube is no longer capable of accurately assessing the quality of the videos on its platform. It wrongly censors and restricts videos without explanation and does not allow any fair method for challenging false positives. I believe that manual reviews are not carried out with any integrity and may not even be done by humans in all instances. I will not support this platform with further content until it rectifies its gross error.
UPDATE: It took much longer than it should have along with constant nagging. But after I threatened YouTube with joining the YouTuber's Union, they FINALLY fixed my video status!!!
What is Urban Gardening?
Welcome to Albopepper.com, the gardening blog of Al Gracian 3. AlboPepper is for urban gardeners who enjoy the science of plant growing. Not just what to do, but also WHY we do it. This is gardening for open-minded people who like to learn.
Urban gardening is a growing trend in many communities including cities. Growing food in the city requires an approach that often differs from conventional farming techniques. Through my personal research into various modern techniques of food production, I've come to find a hobby that is truly rewarding. I've investigated a great deal about how plants grow. The genetic diversity built into the countless varieties of vegetables is amazing! This site is intended to document some of the things I've learned along the way.
This is the place to find information about: Sub-Irrigation, LED Grow Lights, Soil Additives, Water Conservation Techniques, Raised Beds, Container Gardening and more. I hope to explain the scientific principles behind the methods. Be sure to look at my SIP pages for ideas on building your own self-watering (sub-irrigated) planters. In particular, I've put together a YouTube video about how to build a self-wicking raised bed. Be sure to check it out, along with my follow-up videos in my: SIP PLAYLIST.
What's Albopepper All About?
Expect to see: Experiments & tests. Product reviews & unboxing videos. Edible landscaping is a growing focus along with permacultural concepts. I love high density planting, container gardening & SIP sub-irrigated (self-watering) planters. To deal with climate change & drought we need every possible tool & technique.
Sustainability is crucial. But not everyone can adhere to the same method. So Albopepper explores lots of methods, the pros & cons & the growth that results. This allows each person to evaluate ALL options & select the things that work best for them. The main thing is to get out there & garden!!!
